The health of any independent school is enhanced by a culture of unrestricted donations coming form it's stake holders. It is also inspiring to know where those funds are being used, apart from paying for lights, heat and salaries. The following are the highlights of our spending priorities for 2011-2012. Your financial support will help pay for these worthy initiatives that will directly impact our children's experience in the classroom.
Currently we discount $130,000.00 off tuitions for bursaries and scholarships for deserving families who add so much to our school but lack the resources to pay full tuition. A dedicated Bursary Fund would allow us to enroll an inclusive student body of deserving and talented future leaders ready to build a wakeful, diverse society.
Our building was built in 1916, one year before the Halifax Explosion. The fundamentals of our structure are sound, but we are catching up on deferred maintenance. Our current project is to moisture seal the outside shell, install air circulation in some of the key rooms and re seal some of the inside walls
We have been developing our environmental stewardship program for two years now. The training in leadership and the science of sustainabllity at facilities like Windhorse Farm is crucial. The real-world experts, the business operations and equipment are rare to find, and we need help funding these bourgeoning programs.
We pride ourselves in our arts, so we developed a cutting-edge media-heavy web site and paid for a dedicated server for the site, as well as two Macbook computers for full self-sufficiency in graphic design, video and audio production. This is a crucial step in reaching an international market and enriching our school.
